The Katherine Apartments are named for Katherine “Kitty” Petty — the beautiful and beloved mother of Tom Petty, who was known throughout Gainesville for her warmth, grace, and welcoming spirit. Like the city of Gainesville itself, Kitty made it a point to welcome friends and guests with open arms and an engaging, generous style. Though she died early at 53, her love and influence on Tom and his brother Bruce were never forgotten. We pay tribute to her memory with an apartment community that is always excited to welcome you home — ideally located next to some of the most beautiful parklands and hiking trails in all of Florida, where natural beauty and wildlife are right at your fingertips.
